HTRIC
The Health Technology Research and Innovation Cluster was established in 2022 to accelerate innovation in healthcare.
Our society faces major challenges in the field of healthcare. For a variety of reasons, it is difficult worldwide to make or keep good healthcare accessible and affordable. Scientific knowledge, such as new treatment methods, materials and technology, forms the basis for solutions. However, to actually put this new knowledge into practice, a culture is needed in which researchers, healthcare professionals and technological partners can truly connect and understand one another. It is on this basis that HTRIC was established.
Within this cluster, researchers, doctors, technicians, sociologists, economists, entrepreneurs and other professionals from various faculties of the University of Groningen (RUG), the University Medical Centre Groningen (UMCG), other knowledge institutions, and businesses and government bodies in the Northern Netherlands work together on groundbreaking medical innovations. This involves both the development of fundamental knowledge and the application of new insights in practice.
HTRIC brings together the knowledge and strengths already present in Groningen in fields such as materials technology, big data, (molecular) imaging, artificial intelligence and robotics, as well as in behaviour, economics, business management and society. In doing so, HTRIC aligns perfectly with the objectives of the Ubbo Emmius Fund to stimulate multi- and interdisciplinary research and collaboration with (regional) partners outside the university and to strengthen the region..
